"2009 Annual Conference Promo" Transcript

What are YOU looking forward to, this summer?

I am so looking forward to ALA Annual in Chicago.

I am looking forward to seeing all of my librarian friends.

I’m looking forward to seeing all my friends.

Opportunities to meet people.

We love ALA.

So, WHAT do you love about ALA?

I think it’s a chance to connect with librarians and library staff and others from all over the country.

It’s the networking that we get to do. It’s what ALA is all about.

It’s a big experience for me.

I would feel lost if I missed my ALA session.

It’s like the big annual gathering of people from all over the country.

You get to talk to a lot of people from across the world.

Fabulous programming.

It’s getting to hear wonderful talks.

You get a lot of ideas and connections and networks.

The exhibits, the publishers, the vendors.

The meetings, the exhibits, and everything.

I like the variety of the programs that are offered.

I like to meet the authors and get posters for my classroom.

I think what’s exciting about this is to see all librarians here who are so passionate about what they do.

Libraries are more important than ever.

Libraries of every type enrich people’s lives.

Every day is a chance to make a difference.

To launch Learning for Life, our initiative, to roll out the new standards for the 21st century learner, about which we are thrilled.

…And what about the fact that it’s in Chicago??

Chicago’s a great place to be.

Chicago’s a great city and Chicago is fabulous during the summertime.

It’s one of my favorite cities.

Chicago’s always wonderful.

But I’m hoping the weather is going to be better than the last time ALA was there because it was too hot and humid.

It’s just fabulous.

See you in Chicago!
