Illinois Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White visits Chicago's Walt Disney Magnet School April 14 and answers questions from students to kick off National Library Week 2008. Jesse White is not only the
Jesse White is not only the Secretary of State of Illinois but the State Librarian. In charge of over 5000 Libraries State wide, his job encompasses a daily schedule that only an athlete can handle. Look for him with the Jesse White Tumblers and the Jesse White Scholars. His background is in Education, Sports and Government.

School Libraries
We were honored at CPS Walt Disney Magnet School to have the Sec. of State and Illinois State Librarian Jesse White visit our Library and launch National Library Week April 14-18. As I stated, Libraries are were I grew up thanks to a great Dad who took me to our Public Library every Saturday. That set a pattern for the rest of my life and here I am a Librarian for Chicago Public Schools after a wonderful career in the Fine Arts. Thank you, Greg Landgraf and all the AL staff for focusing on us at Disney and to Principal Dr. Kathleen Hagstrom for her vision of a great school Library. Joan Schenk
