Gee willikers! Check out this swell 1950s-style educational film that gives you the A-B-Cs of having a jim-dandy time at Annual Conference. It's packed with so many super tips that every Billy and Sue out there will exclaim, "Golly! Can we watch it again?" Yes indeedy, you can! (Stick around afterwards for a few bloopers, too.) HI-Larious!
Outstanding tongue-in-cheek look at the ALA conference! Well done! Well-done!
I can't wait!
C. U. in Anaheim! Wally, here I come!
Your ALA Annual Conference & You!
Great and humorous video!
Thank you.
Informative, creative, funny, energetic.
Adorable
This video is hilarious! All the advice is solid, but much easier to digest in this entertaining format.
Soporific
I found it slow, hackneyed, and condescending. In short, it stinks.
Very funny... but yes, a term problem
John et al., at least out west, "greaser" is a derogatory term for a person of Mexican descent. This is a regionalism (I haven't heard it since I moved to the Southeast), but as a native Californian, it hit me too when I watched this -- pulled me right out of the narrative.
This is otherwise extremely funny (particularly all the sight gags and silly stuff like "ABC -- Always Be Safe") and I'd love to be able to recommend it...
LOVED IT!!!!
Extremely funny!! John you were perfect, great tips!!
Great!
This was hilarious! You should have seen my high school kids saying "What is he doing?!!" LOVED IT!
Wonderful!
Thanks for making my morning. ALA has such talented folks. jenifer
Vintage Slang
Creative and fun, but did you have to use the term "Greaser" to describe someone you might have to look out for? That pretty much curdled my coffee. I'm sure you could have come up with a better vintage term,
From a Disappointed school librarian in San Diego.
It's perfect
I think you're mistaking the term for another.
From the Urban Dictionary:
Greaser: a person who dresses in rockabilly fashion and styles his hair in a pompadour or other tall retro hairstyle with a petroleum based pomade, such as seen in the movies: Grease, the Outsiders, West Side Story, Rebel Without a Cause, etc.
